The international program includes 72 papers in 22 technical sessions. The KSS domestic program is one session, A-1, on Saturday, October 31, 10:00–12:00 in Seminar Room III (0105): five Korean-language presentations, chaired by Dr. Jungsub Ahn (Seoul Women's University). Each presentation lasts 20 minutes, including questions; the last presentation ends at 11:40. The Welcome Reception starts at 18:00 on Thursday, October 29 at the Ara Convention Hall. Please use the updated schedule and the final 36-page program book.

Keynote Address

Semantic Convergence in System Modeling: M&S, AI, and Digital Twin as Multiple Representations of the World — Theory and Future Directions

Abstract

In this keynote, Prof. Tag Gon Kim will present a framework for semantic convergence in system modeling, where Modeling & Simulation (M&S), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Digital Twin are viewed as multiple representations of the same World. The talk will introduce semantic mapping and homomorphic transition preservation as theoretical foundations, and discuss their realization through independent representations, Big Data–AI–Simulation (BAS), and Physical AI, together with practical implications and future research directions.

About the Speaker

Prof. Kim Tag-Gon is one of the most distinguished figures in the global Modeling & Simulation community. He co-authored the seminal textbook "Theory of Modeling and Simulation — 2nd Edition" with Prof. Bernard P. Zeigler, widely regarded as the bible of M&S theory. He developed the DEVSim++ Toolset, a production-grade DEVS simulation environment deployed to the Republic of Korea Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps.

With over 30 years of research and approximately 200 publications, he received the inaugural Bernard P. Zeigler DEVS Modeling and Simulation Award at SpringSim 2010. He served as President of the Korea Society for Simulation (KSS) and Editor-in-Chief of SIMULATION: Transactions of SCS, the flagship journal of the Society for Modeling and Simulation International.

He is also the author of "Defense Modeling and Simulation" (2018), drawing on over 20 years of defense M&S R&D experience, and served as co-editor of the AsiaSim 2007 conference proceedings.

Conference Topics

Topics include, but are not limited to, modeling and simulation theory, AI, digital twins, cyber security, privacy, resilience, and high-impact applications.

AsiaSim 2026 especially welcomes submissions that position Cyber Security, Privacy, and Resilience as important application areas for modeling and simulation research, alongside AI, digital twins, simulation methodology, and other high-impact applications.

Special Session

AsiaSim 2026 will host a special session on the utilization and effectiveness of the WAiSER digital twin tool. Papers on practical use cases, evaluation results, deployment experiences, and measurable impact of WAiSER-based digital twin applications are especially welcome.

Selected papers will be considered for post-conference publication, subject to publisher approval and any additional review requirements. Publication arrangements have not yet been finalized. Further details will be announced once confirmed.

Journal Submission Opportunity for Outstanding Papers

Outstanding papers selected at AsiaSim 2026 will be invited to submit an extended version to the International Journal of Industrial Engineering: Theory, Applications and Practice (IJIE), an SCI-indexed journal. Selection at the conference grants these papers favorable consideration, while the final decision rests with the journal's editorial committee and will be respected.

Please note the following conditions:

Eligible papers must fall within the scope of industrial engineering.
Publication is subject to a separate journal review process.
An Article Processing Charge (APC) is payable separately to the journal.

A similar opportunity for papers in the computer science / computer engineering field is also being prepared and will be announced soon.

Special Session on WAiSER Digital Twin Tool

AsiaSim 2026 especially welcomes submissions to the special session on the utilization and effectiveness of the WAiSER digital twin tool, including application cases, validation studies, comparative evaluation, and industrial or academic deployment experience.
