Keynote Address

Convergence of M&S, AI, and Digital Twin: Theory and Future Directions

In this keynote, Prof. Kim Tag-Gon will present his extensive research on the convergence of Modeling & Simulation (M&S), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Digital Twin technologies. The talk will cover both the theoretical foundations and practical application directions of this transformative convergence, exploring how these three pillars of modern computational science are reshaping industries and research paradigms.

About the Speaker

Prof. Kim Tag-Gon is one of the most distinguished figures in the global Modeling & Simulation community. He co-authored the seminal textbook "Theory of Modeling and Simulation — 2nd Edition" with Prof. Bernard P. Zeigler, widely regarded as the bible of M&S theory. He developed the DEVSim++ Toolset, a production-grade DEVS simulation environment deployed to the Republic of Korea Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps.

With over 30 years of research and approximately 200 publications, he received the inaugural Bernard P. Zeigler DEVS Modeling and Simulation Award at SpringSim 2010. He served as President of the Korea Society for Simulation (KSS) and Editor-in-Chief of SIMULATION: Transactions of SCS, the flagship journal of the Society for Modeling and Simulation International.

He is also the author of "Defense Modeling and Simulation" (2018), drawing on over 20 years of defense M&S R&D experience, and served as co-editor of the AsiaSim 2007 conference proceedings.
